Book Oblivion Academy Scholarship

Grab your party hats – Book Oblivion Academy is one year old today!

In the past year, we’ve been pretty busy. Between our online courses and reading groups, we’ve accomplished quite a bit together. Here’s quick overview:

  • Enrolled 56 students in either an online course or reading group
  • Awarded 9 full course scholarships
  • Launched two fully online courses
  • Started three fully online reading groups
  • Published hundreds of written and video lectures
  • Held 14 live online video discussions
  • Read 3,107 pages, not including supplemental reading and texts

Now that is absolutely something to celebrate! It is impossible to capture the connections we’ve built with one another over the last year and describe the many ways our knowledge and understanding of texts has deepened through our conversations, but this gives you a peek into what we’ve been up to.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the life-long learning community that we are building through Book Oblivion Academy.

To celebrate our one year anniversary, I am offering a full year long scholarship to one member of our community and I invite you to apply below if you are interested in joining our conversations. The deadline for applications is April 30, 2018. The details for what is included in membership are below.

Thank you for being a part of our community this year!

Book Oblivion Academy Overview

Every Book Oblivion Academy Member has full access to every available online course and reading group and is automatically enrolled in every new course that becomes available. Members have the option to take each course live when it is offered during the year, or work through lessons at their own pace. When you enroll, you will immediately access a library of resources, including online courses, reading groups, reading guides, and exclusive access to private Facebook groups.

Reading Groups

We love to read in community and share our love of books and ideas through conversation. You can join Book Oblivion’s free Book Club and read one new book every Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall with us or you can look into our reading groups designed to read and study a single author (Proust or Murakami), single subject (Literary & Critical Theory/Philosophy), or read through some of the best classic and contemporary literature.

Online Courses

We offer online courses, reading groups, and reading guides for life-long adult learners in the areas of writing, rhetoric, literature, and reading.

When you enroll in a course, reading group, or opt for a study guide, you can expect a different combination of the following:

  • literary focused curriculum
  • emphasis on reading primary texts
  • focus on literary criticism and critical theory
  • comprehensive video lectures
  • memory challenges and skill building
  • live online video conferences
  • written discussion boards
  • email correspondence
  • supplemental reading and resources
  • access to private Facebook groups
