There’s a day for everything, right? Well, today is a holiday dedicated to book lovers.

In honor of the holiday, we’re going to celebrate! And we hope you’ll join us. Here are five easy ways for book lovers to celebrate. How to Celebrate National Book Lovers Day

Read!

Haha. I bet if you’re reading this post, you don’t need to be told that. Read by yourself, read to your kids, whatever you do, take a few minutes to read. Revisit a passage from your favorite book, or find a poem to read aloud. Just surround yourselves with books today. I’m giving you permission.

Eat!

Plan a meal from a book you love. Whether you make a fine Italian pasta dish with sparkling water to celebrate one of Murakami’s novels or you eat an MRE in honor of The Things They Carried, just enjoy a hearty meal that reminds you of one of your favorite books.

Buy!

Today is the day you treat yourself to that book you’ve been wanting. Buy a book from a local book store – new or used – it doesn’t matter. Head over to a local bookstore and spend time in the stacks until something calls your name. The library works, too. Buy or borrow something you’ve had your eye on for a while. If you can’t get away, then Amazon will work just fine, and to make it easy, here is a link to today’s best deals

Share!

Update your Goodreads account, share your latest read on Facebook, snap a photo of your current read on Instagram with the #bookoblivion hashtag. Do whatever you have to do to share your love of books with someone else – anyone else. And take a few minutes to recommend your favorite book to one of your friends… or me! You can recommend a book to me on Goodreads or share it in our private Book Club group on Facebook. I love book recommendations, so I’d be delighted to know what you think I should read next!

Listen!

Did you know there are all kinds of ways to get your ears on your favorite audiobook? If you haven’t jumped on the audiobook bandwagon, the time is now. I’ve been saying this for a while now, but listening to audiobooks will change your reading life – I also list some great and inexpensive ways for you to listen. Check it out and let me know what you choose.

There you have it! Five easy ways to celebrate books on this fine holiday.
